Axis Mundi is a multi-disciplinary design firm located in New York that was founded by John Beckmann. The firms architectural, interior and furniture designs have been featured in numerous international publications such as Surface, Wallpaper, Casa Vogue, Blueprint, and the New York Times. Current projects include a complete interior renovation of a landmark 1850s Greek Revival townhouse in Greenwich Village, a duplex apartment near Astor Place, a luxury apartment on the Upper East Side in a new building designed by Phillip Johnson, and an apartment in Boca Rotan, Florida.
In 1996, John Beckmann received a grant from the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts for the book The Virtual Dimension: Architecture, Representation and Crash Culture, Princeton Architectural Press, 1998. He is a graduate of Parsons School of Design. |
